Madeline wanted a very simple, stripped-back portfolio website that put the focus on her work rather than on the website itself.

As an actor and writer, she needed somewhere professional to send people that made it easy to find her reel, contact details, representation and industry profiles without adding unnecessary sections or visual clutter.

A deliberately simple approach

The brief was to keep everything very toned back.

Rather than filling the site with lots of sections, cards or effects, the design uses simple layouts, strong photography, clean typography and plenty of space.

The aim was to create something that felt professional and personal without becoming overdesigned.

For a portfolio site like this, simplicity works well because visitors can quickly understand who Madeline is and get straight to the important information.

Putting the work first

The reel is one of the most important parts of an actor's website, so it needed to be easy to reach.

The same applies to contact information, representation and links to professional profiles.

Instead of trying to keep visitors on the website for as long as possible, the structure is designed to help them find what they need quickly.

Easy to edit from the backend

It was also important that Madeline could manage the website herself after launch.

The backend was built so that key content and images can be updated without needing to edit code or change the layout manually.

That means she can keep the site current as new photography, reel footage or professional information becomes available, while the overall design stays consistent.

Designed to stay out of the way

A portfolio website does not always need lots of features.

In this case, the website works best by staying out of the way and letting Madeline's own work and imagery provide the personality.

The finished site is intentionally simple, responsive and easy to maintain — giving her a clear professional home online without adding anything that does not need to be there.
