HiFi Pig

HiFi Pig is a respected hi-fi and audio publication with a long-established archive of equipment reviews, industry news and audio features. I rebuilt the site around the needs of a content-heavy publication, preserving an archive of more than 10,000 articles and reviews while creating a clearer foundation for readers and search engines.

The project combined editorial redesign, WordPress development, content architecture, SEO structure and performance optimisation. It was an opportunity to make a large body of valuable publishing content easier to explore without losing the history that gives the publication its depth.

HiFi Pig's archive was central to its value, but its scale also created complexity. Tens of thousands of posts needed to remain available and understandable, while the site had to avoid becoming slow, difficult to browse or unclear for search engines to crawl.

I needed to retain the existing archive and its SEO equity while improving the experience for readers who might arrive directly on an individual review, news story or feature rather than through the homepage. The new structure also needed to support continued publishing and archive growth.

I began with the content architecture, defining a clearer category structure, navigation system and article layout for the full archive. This made content easier to browse while giving each editorial format a more consistent, readable presentation.

I then rebuilt the site in WordPress with a stronger technical foundation: clean URL structures, considered heading hierarchy, faster page delivery and a crawlable site structure. The approach applied the principles of SEO-friendly web design to a large editorial archive, balancing reader clarity with the requirements of search visibility.

HiFi Pig launched on a faster, more structured platform designed to handle its substantial archive at scale. The refreshed editorial design gives reviews, news and features a cleaner, more consistent presentation, while the navigation makes the archive more intuitive to explore.

The rebuilt structure preserves the publication's existing content while providing a stronger base for ongoing growth and search visibility.
