Big Shanty Plumbing Website Development Project

Big Shanty Plumbing needed a distinctive, SEO-focused website that could stand apart from the generic local plumbing templates common across the home services industry. The goal was to build a fast, modern, fully responsive website that still felt rooted in the brand’s old-world plumbing character.

Overview

The website was designed around the visual language of an 1880s plumbing manufacturer’s catalogue, combining vintage trade typography, catalogue-style service plates, stamped trust marks, location-focused landing pages, and practical conversion paths.

Rather than relying on typical smiling plumber stock photography, the site uses a more memorable visual direction inspired by:

  • Historic plumbing catalogues

  • Engineering journals

  • Brass valve product sheets

  • Trade notices

  • Regional service maps

  • Technical field notes

Core Project Goals

  1. Create a memorable plumbing website that feels premium but still practical.

  2. Improve visibility for searches around plumbing services in Kennesaw and North Metro Atlanta.

  3. Build dedicated foundations for future service and location SEO pages.

  4. Add clear enquiry routes through contact forms, call buttons, and service CTAs.

  5. Make the website easy to browse on mobile, where many urgent plumbing searches happen.

“The finished site needed to feel like a modern website built from the visual language of an old plumbing catalogue — useful, local, distinctive, and conversion-focused.”

The result is a custom-built web presence with strong brand character, practical service content, and a scalable structure for long-term local SEO growth.

The Challenge

Building a Plumbing Website That Did Not Feel Generic

Most local plumbing websites follow the same pattern: blue-and-white layouts, stock photos, oversized emergency badges, and generic service copy. Big Shanty Plumbing needed something more distinctive while still remaining clear, trustworthy, and easy to use.

Key Challenges

Creating a Strong Brand Direction

The site needed to feel professional and local without becoming overly polished, luxury-focused, rustic, or western. The direction had to balance:

  • Vintage plumbing catalogue inspiration

  • Modern usability

  • Clear calls to action

  • Trust-building local copy

  • Mobile-first layouts

  • SEO-friendly page structure

Supporting Local SEO

The website also needed to support searches across multiple locations, including:

  • Kennesaw

  • Acworth

  • Marietta

  • Woodstock

  • Roswell

  • Smyrna

  • East Cobb

  • Alpharetta

  • Cobb County

  • Cherokee County

Each location page needed unique copy, a contact form near the top, and content that felt specific enough to avoid thin or duplicated SEO pages.

Making Service Content Easy to Navigate

The business needed clear pages and internal links for key plumbing services, including drain cleaning, leak detection, pipe repair, water heaters, toilet repair, bathroom plumbing, emergency plumbing, and general plumbing.

Technical Requirements

The project required a modern frontend stack with strong performance and SEO fundamentals:

  1. Next.js App Router

  2. TypeScript

  3. Tailwind CSS

  4. Semantic HTML

  5. Next/Image optimization

  6. Metadata and Open Graph support

  7. LocalBusiness and Service schema

  8. Mobile responsive layouts

The challenge was not only designing the website, but creating a flexible structure that could grow with the business.

The Solution

A Catalogue-Inspired Website Built for Local Search

The final website was designed as a custom plumbing website with a distinctive catalogue-style visual system and a practical SEO structure underneath.

Visual Design System

The design uses warm ivory paper textures, black ink typography, muted red accents, brass tones, fine rule lines, catalogue references, and stamp-style trust graphics.

Design Details

  • Oversized serif headings

  • Small-caps section labels

  • Catalogue plate service cards

  • Stamped proof elements

  • Technical field-note sections

  • Location imagery with readable overlays

  • Dark service hero treatments

  • Paper-inspired content panels

This gave the website a recognizable identity without making it feel like a novelty or a fake vintage theme.

Service Page Structure

Each service page was designed with consistent SEO architecture and strong conversion flow:

  1. Service-specific hero section

  2. Clear service overview

  3. Common plumbing issues

  4. Process and expectations

  5. Related services

  6. Contact form section

  7. Internal links to relevant services

This structure helps users quickly understand the service while also giving search engines rich, relevant content.

Location Landing Pages

Dedicated service area pages were created for important North Metro Atlanta locations. Each page includes:

  • Unique SEO title and description

  • Location-specific hero

  • Contact form near the top

  • Local plumbing overview

  • Common calls in that area

  • Field notes section

  • Related service links

  • Nearby route links

  • Structured internal linking

The location pages were written to feel useful to real customers, not simply assembled for keywords.

Conversion Improvements

The site includes multiple enquiry routes throughout the experience:

  • Sticky call buttons

  • Schedule service CTAs

  • Contact forms in high-intent sections

  • Service page forms

  • Location page forms

  • Mobile-friendly navigation

  • Services mega menu

  • Service areas mega menu

↪ The goal was to make it easy for a visitor to move from problem recognition to contacting the business.

The Result

A Distinctive Local Plumbing Website With Scalable SEO Foundations

The completed website gives Big Shanty Plumbing a stronger, more memorable online presence while also supporting practical lead generation.

Key Outcomes

  • Custom visual identity that avoids generic plumbing templates

  • Fully responsive Next.js website

  • SEO-friendly service page structure

  • Dedicated local landing pages

  • Strong internal linking between services and locations

  • Clear enquiry forms and call CTAs

  • Improved content depth across service and location pages

  • Optimized metadata and structured data

  • Fast, clean frontend implementation

SEO Benefits

The website is structured to support searches such as:

  • Plumber in Kennesaw GA

  • Drain cleaning in North Metro Atlanta

  • Emergency plumber in Cobb County

  • Water heater services in Cherokee County

“The result is a plumbing website that feels local, capable, and memorable — while still being built around speed, search visibility, and enquiries.”
